The 2012 Annual Meeting of the ATBC Asia-Pacific Chapter is at the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Yunnan Province, China, from 24-27 March. 2012 President Richard Corlett wrote in 2007 about the Inaugural Conference of the A-P Chapter Meeting envisioning that a "Better representation from this region is essential if ATBC Asia-Pacific is to have a strong regional voice on conservation issues." One strong voice in the Asian-Pacific Region is silent today, but is still alive in our memory. In remembrance and recognition of the contributions of Navjot Sodhi, who inspired many students and colleagues to work for the conservation of tropical biodiversity, each year, the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation presents the Navjot Sodhi Conservation Research Award to a student from a developing country conducting research in tropical conservation biology.
